How did Bootleggers Brewing Co. Start?

Bootleggers Brewing Co. traces its roots back to Brandon, FL, where it began as Bootleggers Beer & Wine Home Brewing Supplies. This local gem provided the community with the grains, equipment, and expertise needed for home brewing.

Shaun, a passionate homebrewer, envisioned more than just a supply shop. He added a small taproom, creating a welcoming space to enjoy handcrafted pints with friends.

Five years later, Bootleggers opened its first tasting room adjacent to the supply store. With a modest 1.5-barrel system and a simple "CRAFT BEER" sign, it quickly became a cozy favorite.

As their circle of beer enthusiasts grew, so did the need for space. Bootleggers relocated to a larger venue with a Tampa zip code, upgrading to a 3.5-barrel system and adding a small kitchen. This expansion allowed them to offer a fresh and rotating selection of craft beers, ciders, meads, and wines.

Staying true to their motto, "For Love of The Craft," Bootleggers prides itself on its award-winning styles and a knowledgeable, friendly staff. Their Brandon Tap Room boasts 24 taps, featuring an adventurous mix of their creations and those from other stellar local breweries.

Berliner Schuss: Sour - Berliner Weisse 7.3% ABV

What about the food?

Reviewing the food at a craft brewery is a first for us, and for good reason—the food here is outstanding. You can taste the passion in every bite. We began with the Stuffed Mushrooms, a recipe inspired by owner Shaun's trip to Oklahoma. They were so delicious, I was tempted to lick the plate!

Next, we tried the smoked wings with Nashville Hot and Garlic Parmesan sauces—truly exceptional.

However, the true standout was the Pastrami Sammy. This is their flagship house-made pastrami, cured for three weeks, and it’s worth every moment. It’s one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had, and I’ll definitely return just for this incredible dish.
