Every year, beer enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the arrival of one of Tampa Bay’s most extraordinary events: the Halfway There Beer Festival. This year, on August 25th, The Coliseum in St. Petersburg served as the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable celebration, marking the midpoint to Tampa Bay Beer Week. Organized by the Tampa Bay Beer Week board and the Tampa Bay Brewer’s Alliance, the festival is not only a highlight of the local beer calendar but also an essential fundraiser to keep Tampa Bay’s beer culture thriving.
The Coliseum, a historic gem in the heart of St. Pete, hosted 57 outstanding breweries, each showcasing their finest brews that embody the spirit and creativity of the region. Attendees were treated to an impressive variety of flavors, from hoppy IPAs to rich stouts, each telling its own story of craftsmanship.
Outside, food trucks offered delicious bites, making it easy for festival-goers to keep their energy up as they sampled their way through the diverse offerings. The convenience of the location, within walking distance to numerous restaurants and bars, added to the event’s allure.
Safety and responsibility were prioritized, with designated driver tickets available, ensuring everyone could enjoy the festivities worry-free. The $20 tickets provided access to a range of non-alcoholic beverages, making the event inclusive and considerate.
The festival atmosphere was electric, a testament to the hard work and dedication of the organizers and volunteers. Special thanks are due to Event Director Katrina Jones, Co-Event Director Ashley Hunter and the Tampa Bay Beer Week board members, who orchestrated the day seamlessly. The support from the TBBA, led by Sean Nordquist and Chris Fairchild, and numerous volunteers ensured a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.
The festival didn’t end at The Coliseum. The celebration continued at St. Petersburg’s Grand Central Brewhouse, where the official afterparty kept the good times rolling. Attendees with festival wristbands enjoyed exclusive discounts, creating a perfect transition to the evening’s festivities. The ease of transportation via the St. Pete SunRunner made the journey a breeze.
In conclusion, Halfway There is more than just a beer festival; it’s a vibrant celebration of community and craft. Whether you’re a seasoned beer aficionado or a casual enthusiast, this event is an essential experience. Mark your calendars for next year – you won’t want to miss it!
